Excited to announce that the textbook Dr. Thais and our Institute for Integrative Healology contributed to—Psychedelics in Palliative Care—is now published and available via print and e-book editions! (LINKS at bottom)
We contributed to the chapter on Psilocybin in Palliative Care, particularly focusing on its historical, cultural, and spiritual significance. Including the Mazatec traditional knowledge and curandera Maria Sabina for bringing this wisdom to the broader world.
This is a deep and rich, integrative topic—rooted in ancient ceremonial practice—where healing was always spiritual, emotional, physical, and communal. Sacred plants and fungi have long been used to expand consciousness, support connection, and help people face significant life transitions and mortality with greater clarity and peace.
Through this textbook, we aim to bring forward grounded, respectful information on the science, safety, conscious and traditional use of these medicines to support healing.
It’s been a true honor to collaborate on this chapter with thought leaders and pioneers in the field: Charles Grob, MD; Yvan Beaussant, MD; Dingle Spencer, MD; Stacy Fischer, MD; Lou Lukas, MD; Jessi Humphreys, MD; and Brian Anderson, MD.
✨ May this work help us further bridge ancient healing wisdom and modern science skill, and—through education and collaboration—move us closer to therapeutic access for more people with safety, dignity, and care.
